This workshop was titled "Changing the Economic System: Why We Must & How We Can" and was given on October 2, 2009 (I lost the recording of the Q & A, sorry)
In this session, panelists point out the limits of proposed reforms to capitalism such as green capitalism, alternative energy, local production, fair trade & a welfare state. They will also show the weaknesses of the current reforms to the economic crisis. Robin Hahnel and Peter Bohmer will discuss the principles of a participatory economy & strategies to achieve it. They will talk about the relation between reformist and revolutionary change. Cindy Milstein will examine the successes and limitations of applying participatory economic principles within a larger capitalist society. Adam Sanchez will talk about how democratic socialism is necessary to overcome the economic and environmental crises.
