Let's take a look at some excellent options for store bought foods that are great for storage and for backpacking, camping, or just as a supplement in your survival backpack. I will also show you my method for creating a self contained meal. This video is part 2 of 2.

  • I'm surprised you don't just buy some of your dry type foods in bulk if you're going to repack them anyway. A big can of stovetop stuffing is much cheaper than maybe 3-4 of the single servings.

  • Just a thought, it might not be a bad idea to seal in the cooking instructions with some of the foods that you've removed from the original packaging, for instance, so that you know how much water to add.

  • You should make that backpacking part 6 video you were taking about... Would love to see the changes , keep the videos coming

  • have you had any problems with you seals leacking. i was also wondering if you vacumseal powders

  • You can add dried cranberries to your stuffing and chicken and it's very tasty. Just rehydrate them a little and you are good to go.

  • wow nice man..

  • Thanks for the video, great ideas. Real MREs taste like shit, so Im sure this is a better way.

  • 556, great idea and this will help me and my friend a lot! We are heading to Wyoming for a big hunt next month and we are going to start packing our food. Of course I went out and bought a few MRE's etc...and other ready to eat meals. Which we paid a few bucks for!!! but now this idea is really going to save us some money. Question, how do you cook the rice and stuff? Just add water to it, do you cook it in the pouch or what?

  • I like your IDEA about making your meals up ahead of time. But you can save some cash!! Food Savers are a great way to save on balk items for your family

but the rolls cost cash. If you take a zip lock bags fill them with your food. then

put it in water up to the zip line then seal it .Water forces air out and should seal on the cheep!!! save on food saver bags!!!

  • how much is the machen and the bags

  • This reminds me of recipe about apple pie: you buy pie paste, already made in a form of pancake and put on sliced apples. Does it looks like real coocking to you? Does this video looks like real backpacking using simple stuff? No, this is more like "how to pack food for a lazy modern bastard".

  • Thanks for demonstrating your FoodSaver. It was a great help in my decision of which one to gat.
