this is the product of a project i did for my english class about the novel "wuthering heights" by emily bronte.
the song is written from heathcliff's point of view about a theme in the novel-- how love will prevail despite efforts to stop it-- and mirrors several plot points.

these are the lyrics:

i am sorry that i ever broke your heart
and i am sorry that we have to live apart
if i could go back and erase all of time
i would rewrite it so you'd always be mine

CHORUS: [but here i stand watching you call apart
and here i am wishing i could put you together again
and all the things i wish i'd said before my depart,
they keep me stuck here, alone, in yesterday]

everywhere i went, i only thought of you
i saw your face in each challenge i went through
and when i returned, well, you made me feel so small
and now i wonder: "did you ever love me at all?"
CHORUS
now that i'm with someone else, you're looking mad
i wish you'd felt this way when i was yours to be had
only both our deaths can reunite us now
"love forever": this i said, and this i vow.
CHORUS
i'll have my revenge one day- i'm glad you won't see
a web of chaos, and in the middle of it, me.
if we can't be together now, then no one should
and i'll do all i can to make that understood
listen closely to the moral of this tale
those who stand in the way of love are bound to fail
although the path is rough and sets you up to fall
remember always that true love conquers all
CHORUS x2

  • This is beautifully written! I would have given you 100% as well!

I am actually showing this video to my students, since we are reading Wuthering Heights. I hope it will help my students better understand Heathcliff's character.

  • I like it. but i can´t compare it with wuthering heights xD

  • :O wow. This is amazing!!!! My mom thinks so, too. "Be careful, with it," she says (she thinks it is good enough for someone to steal). I am honored to have the first of your CDs and wish I would have been there to watch you grow in your music (I miss us singing in the practice room!).
