@pribadi8406 You should check out Ma Hongs videos. He's 80 in some and can do things someone a 1/4 his age would find VERY difficult and impossable if they were not conditioned. And I mean NO disrepect to Master Zhi Qiang, he is the real deal for sure, but some old guys can still be REALLY flexable.
Thanks for your helpful comments. My approach to "taichi exercise" is more for body exercise externally where one can't play Shaolin style/Taekwando, etc.Internally,I prefer "meditation" style for chi movements & spiritual awakening. Legs flexibilities, extensions for ligaments /tendons are more important in my approach to taichi exercise. Low bended knee is not important, but at least the knees should be slightly bend for mild form of strength exercise to prevent osteoporosis, etc.
You are right on the spot with your assessment. Thank you kindly :0
I feel "strange" when I see someone plays "Chen style" and yet it is not really Chen style. And I prefer younger player performs any taichi exercise because I can appreciate more of his/her flexibility and legs extension where it is absence in the old men.
You like the form for what it looks like. That's not important when one masters his chi. Everything that is important happens inside. One should forget the form when one has understood the essence.
Having lower stance or bending more do not necessarily help the chi flow.
Xinyi Hunyuan Taiji training has an emphasis on nurturing and sustaining the body, so a higher stance is common there and is on purpose to avoid knee problems. Remember, this is not traditional Chen style, it is devised from grandmaster Feng using, among other things, input from his Xinyi background. But I can understand if anyone prefers the more traditional Chen stances; it's just that these aren't the same things...
Personally, I still like the competition form of taichi exercise. This form of exercise...I prefer grandmaster Zhu performance of Chen style. This Feng guy..I like to see him bend more while doing the exercise. That's the main problem with taichi exercise, eventually your knees give up on you because of bending too much....hehe....lousy choice of music. NOT matching with his quick movements.
