I used an 80 Watt solar panel to help power the pump to move the frying oil into my 5,000 gallon tank. This is at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. The sun was high in the sky and the solar panel was cranking out almost 90 Watts! I ordered several more solar panels to help power my entire biodiesel creation process. Watch my other video on the entire process. Solar panels are fun!!!
And if you search around, you can find one for $300-$500 but it does take some searching. It's fun though, working with solar panels.

Well, that is not entirely true. What you see here was a panel that was donated to the University of Florida and powers our biodiesel production pumps. The biodiesel is sold in large quantities so it helps pay for the solar panel. The entire idea is to make the entire process sustainable with using a drop of gasoline. Right now we still have to pay an electric bill, but with using this one solar panel connected to a 12 V battery system our electric bill has dropped dramatically.

Unless you are trying to live off the grid, a $550, 80 watt solar panel will never pay for itself.
