-"KURDISTAN: The American Lens" is about Diaspora experiences, expert advice, and general American knowledge about Kurdistan.
-This documentary short, shot in various places throughout northern Virginia and Washington D.C in the summer of 2010, explores the experiences and challenges that Kurdish youth currently face in the U.S, invaluable advice from well established Kurdish and non Kurdish experts, and general American knowledge about Kurdistan.
-The documentary begins by testing American knowledge about Kurdistan before giving a brief overview of its history throughout the 20th century. It then interviews Kurdish students and active members of the Kurdish community, Kurdish adults, and experts in the field of foreign policy and diaspora issues. These interviews help to provide a unique lens into the dynamics and challenges facing our current Kurdish community and their hopes for a future independent Kurdistan.

  • Its funny how our own fellow Muslim neighbors wont give us respect, even though its because of a Kurdish man that the Islamic world is what it is today. Syria is what it is, Egypt, Lebanon and so much more countries have been freed from the crusaders because of a Kurd. Yes I am talking about Saladin.

  • I am so proud of everyone who contributed to creating this video and portraying the active Kurdish American Community, especially in the Washington DC area! I not only found it informative, but I am grateful to all of you for showing the viewers that we are and always will be proud of our heritage of birth as well as the one we've adopted! I wish you all the success in reaching those who aren't aware of our rich culture as well as bridging the gap between Kurds everywhere!!! (kudos!!)
