D.Tiomkin/N.Washington
Originally performed by Nina Simone. Jeff performed it live at the Spot Coffee, Buffalo, on December 9th 1996. That was a date of the Solo Phantom Tour when he wanted to do his own thing without all of the attention that he was getting. That day he was billed as Father Demo.
Love me love me love me
Say you do
Let me fly away
With you
For my love is like
The wind
And wild is the wind
Give me more
Than one caress
Satisfy this
Hungriness
Let the wind
Blow through your heart
For wild is the wind
You...
Touch me...
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You...
Kiss me...
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me
Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To a tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're creatures
Of the wind
And wild is the wind
So wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
What I would give to have heard this live!

Wow, wow wow, this performance is as fragile and subtle as a wisp of wind.... and it drifts me away with it.

Had he done an "official" cover of this on his next record I have no doubt that it would have become his next "Hallelujah." Nina's version is amazing and Jeff interprets it soooo well. Too bad this is the only version floating around out there.

Beautiful and haunting. I wish there was a better recording of him singing this.

@aquesantonio totally agree ^^ but then, he liked or wanted this kind of atmosphere? his delivery is flawless - what a presence, despite theirs.
