this excersice will take you to the next level, most of begginers underestimate it and spend more time trying to go fast and crazy on the drum set, but if you practice and develop the rudiment in the video you will acquire in one year the speed that you got in 4 years of going crazy in the drum set. That's what I think.

Silly me, I thought my fingers were part of my hands.

This is George Lawrence Stone's work. Joe Morello has this exercise in full. It's called "Speed Killer"....Good job....show the whole thing.......It's an amazing exercise.

very nice. Timpony grip comes in handey, and also makes a great finger exersize
good job
Come on buddy i was just pointing out the difference and you know their is pretty large gap between playing in french grip with fingers or (american grip in fingers) as you did and any grip and wrist playing.
I had just noticed the contradiction of what you said you were playing in instead of what your were playing in. Great video though for young kids who need to work on their chops and hand speed.

Not sure where you get "wrist" from me repeatedly saying "hands." I never brought it up. Ever. In my life. I can't even spell the word "wrist." Firefox's spell checker gets it every time, and I just follow its suggestions.
Semantics are dumb. Nobody plays drums with their hands, as hands are immobile masses of bone, etc. Fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders all comprise the skill we call "hands," just like how ankles, knees, and hips comprise the mystery that is "feet." Leave it be.

I considered posting a full exercise instead of just the run-through of the three components, but unfortunately recording on a digital camera isn't terribly time-friendly.
When I do regimental exercises for speed, I do the above for two to three minutes at a clip per exercise. Good balance of muscle training and hand coordination.
