Chapter 1, Part 1
It is Sunday, June 1st, and I was just waking up as I heard my mom shouting, "Christine, get up and come eat breakfast!!" I turned to my left and quickly glanced at the time, and gosh was I a long sleeper; it was 10:30 am already. "Alright, I'll be down there in a sec.," I yelled back as I took the covers out of my way and stumbled to the bathroom that was in the hallway. I washed my face and looked in the mirror; gosh did I have many pimples and most of them were in my forehead. But hey! I was a teenager, it happens, right? Therefore, I grabbed the soap and I turned the sink to get some water and to clean my face again. "That's it," I said with satisfaction hoping that it'll be gone in a day or two. I dried my face with the towel that was right next to the sink and looked up again and I still saw them. "Hmm...bangs or no bangs?" I questioned myself knowing that the bangs will cover them but at this time I didn't care. I wasn't gonna try to impress anyone today so then I just combed my hair back and got a clip and put it on my hair. And then I headed downstairs to the kitchen.
As I walked gradually down the stairs I could see my dad reading the newspaper, my mom making some scrambled eggs in the stove, Emily, my 2 year old sister sitting on her safety chair next to my dad eating some cereal, and Josh, my 17 year old brother eating breakfast. When I got to the last steps, I then headed to my dad and said, "Morning," while kissing him on the cheek and hearing him replying, "Good Morning, hunny." Then I walked to my mom and I also said, "Morning," as I kissed her on the cheek as well and she replied, "Good Morning, sweetie." After all this, I then walked to the circled-like table where they were all sitting and I sat in my usual seat, next to Emily and my mom, and across from Josh, who was sitting next to my dad.
As I sat down I gently pinched Emily's cheeks and said, "Hey, Emily. How are you?" I looked at her for a while and she gave me a happily smile. To me she was so cute...I still remember the day when my mom told me that I was going to have a baby sister, I was 13 and so excited. And then when she was born, it was the happiest day of my life. I don't why but I'm just so thankful for her, I always wanted a younger sibling and I finally got her. It's as if she understands me in a way, I know weird, isn't it? She is only 2 years old, but unlike my brother, she's sweet. Even though, she still doesn't talk accurately.
Then suddenly when I turned back seeing the plate that my mom had just placed in front of me I heard my brother say, "Why aren't you normal like everyone else?"
"Excuse me" I replied not understanding his comment.
"Why do you say morning and not good morning like every normal person?" he said back. "Didn't you know it's said "good morning"?" he said placing quotation marks in the word "good morning".
"Well, sorry for not being like everybody else." I said kinda sarcastic but not meaning it at all. "Why is it Good Morning when the day hasn't even started yet and you still don't know how it'll end up?" I questioned back.
"I don't know but good morning is the right way, and I don't know why you always had to look the bad in things?" he replied.
"Sorry again for not being how you want me to be." I said back angrily and then looking down at my plate to end the conversation. I guess he got the memo because he continued eating and then soon enough he was done and he was heading out.
"Mom, I'll be back later," he told her.
"Where you going?" my mom asked.
"Hanging out with some friends," he replied.
"Ok, but don't get home late," my dad said firmly.
"Ok," he said understandingly and he went out the door.
