Wohlfahrt Foundation Studies for the Viola
Separate sixteenth notes to be played at the frog or point. Slurred sixteenth notes to be played with full bows. Eight notes to be played with full strokes and slight separation. Make sure bow catches the string. Always pull string sideways, never press. Keep bow hand and arm relaxed. At frog, the weight of the hand is sufficient. At the point, feel a gentle pressure in the hand between the thumb and first finger.

  • wow that was lovely

  • Thanks!

  • you play so well! what viola is that? the tone is just beautiful.

  • Thanks a lot! I'm not sure exactly who made my viola. I know that it is a factory student model viola made in Germany around 1950. It's not that special or exciting, but I like it. It's good quality for something that is considered to be a "student" instrument.

  • @Bratschenmeister if your viola was made and in 1950 in Germany and listening to the tone it sounds like a Roth viola. i have a Roth and it also gets that rich, deep, and beautiful sound that you got. VERY good sound and tone. =)
