  • Grassley is such a moron... of course there was a negative reaction to us being thrown in jail and fined heavily for not buying private insurance when he voted against giving us an affordable option. Why is he so surprised nobody else is.

  • you know nothing of human nature.

Just good enough is how most humans live, even managers.

best buy I belive it was, fired their experienced employees to hire cheaper ones. They didnt want the best, they wanted good enough.

It hasnt worked out for them, but thats how business is. Its often stupid at high levels.

You are an idealist to think that business cares about employees.

Most dont, look at history. Take a very good look at how working class has been treated in history

  • Once again he changed his mind because they don't understand what's going on and Grassley won't tell them. Maybe because he doesn't know what was written.

  • government is NEVER the solution except for national security. this so called healthcare "reform" is BS.

  • Too bad. Government is the solution, we are the problem. That's why the people spoke last year. Government tells us what to do and not to do. And that's how it works for those that voted for them and all of us.

  • it wasnt a good business practice anyway since it loses them money by losing customers in towns where there are other business doing better.

But many business only care about short term profit and cant see past the next quarter and cant see the value of humans to their system.

History of USA, we have had 150 or so years of industrialisation.

We have experience with how business, not just corps, deal with their workers.

  • Yet its ok for you to discuss how companies would act under your theoretical idealistic system?

I can speak of how companies would act because of human nature.

You ignore human nature in your idealism.

Most humans arent like you, whether thats good or bad, its the case.

What best buy did was opposite what you said business would want, to have great working conditons and have best employees. Now its a good business practice to you when the company doesnt care about what employees they have?

  • Prove, irrefutably, that my boss would send that money off for me and my fellow co-workers instead of pocketing it himself.

Not really against you or your points, but I'd really like to see proof of what a human being will do in the future.

  • Your Wage is dependent upon the Market itself...so long as the Government is taxing and inflating the Dollar and requiring your boss to pay your Healthcare...then, your wage will be low...

The Government backs off...the Prices of everything stays relative, due to the demand staying relative, your boss has more money in his pocket to better compensate you...in turn, you have more money in your pocket to do as you please.

Noone knows what to do best with a mans property other than that man.

  • my dad always said "good business IS good business.." then i got into the real world- and realized short term bottom line is their idea of good business.... sootin themselves in the foot IMO!

  • You are comparing TODAY with a system that is not in place...today, with have no Capitalism...we have no sign of Free Market....how can you speak for any Company that would work under such a system?

I personally dont blame Best Buy for their actions, smart business practice in a sense that they are taxed and regulated in a much more immoral manner than them replacing employees.

Why would i look at the "Working class" through History? History has been Fascism and Communism...not Capitalism.

  • walter,

It's obvious the conservatives don't give a squirt of piss for the working man, or they wouldn't be so anti-union.

If conservatives had their way, they'd take us back to the beginning of the industrial revolution, where business called all the shots and if worker's didn't agree, tough luck.

I actually had a conservative the other day tell me that the fable of Robin Hood had no redeemable qualities, and was actually antithetic to modern society. In other words, 'spit on the poor'.
