Florida Everglades
Pahayokee: A Plea for Life combines natural sounds with dramatic music and singing in a fervent call to save the Everglades. The Everglades are dying and Pahayokee asks us all to cry out to save the glades as the frogs, birds and insects call out their songs in their struggles to survive ever-increasing human encroachment and environmental degradation. A Plea for Life presents six songs which explore the relationship between the most elemental substance of all, water, and the life and death of the glades. Plea for Life is a hopeful plea and sincere request that we save an environment like no other in the world-what the Miccosukees call Pa-Ha-Yo-Kee, grassy waters and the place Marjory Stoneman Douglas named The River of Grass.
