Me and Randy Griffin Preparing for the Phatwater Challenge in Natchez MS. No better way to do it than to pick the worst possible conditions.

  • There is no audio on the camera I used to film this one.

People run the Phatwater race in just about anything from canoes to 9.5 sit on tops to full blown race kayaks. It can be done but might take you a while. It is a fun race and if you have a fast kayak you may get to the finish line in under 5 hours where you will be inducted in the "5 hour club" and receive a coveted engraved swiss army knife. My time in 2009 race was 5.07 hours. Missed the knife by 7 minutes. Dangit!

  • No audio? Do you train for this event ? And what's your idea of a good kayak to use ? All I have know is a 9.5ft old town sit in . I know it's too small for the mississippi ! Cause it gets sketchy in Percy Quinn in a chop .
