Completed in 02:04:28. HARD base time is 02:52:00.

This is the fastest route I know possible on HARD. Using this route you'll succeed in 1/80 times of your runs, sorry to say this. There are three critical spots: 1, picking up Stone Ball. 2, picking up the key. 3, opening the vent (the most important and critical and failure-prone part).

The first strangle can always be avoided by forcing it to end prematurely (strafing towards the doorway). But the shibito might do another strangle right afterwards, ruining your hard work. (luck)

Retrying from a checkpoint is the speediest option on HARD because of the hammer lady shibito who's not around on lesser difficulties. (if you don't retry now, she will appear later at an unconvenient time.)

"Grandma!!" Ouch, grand..grandma, what're you doing...?

The middle part of the level is all about timing and luck. By some magical means the player is supposed to get both of the two main patrollers to the left side of the area and stay there while the duct is processed, if he wants to have any hope of this route succeeding.

The shibito at the shack's door is sometimes troublesome, namely, if he has a chance to interrupt you before you've unlocked the door to the shack.

When processing the vent, you just have to hope both of the patrollers (and potentially the hammer lady, in which case you're screwed) who have noticed you calm down so that you can examine things properly. If you get the stone ball rolling, the level's as good as done. The last checkpoint is completely safe, at long last.

  • Is that droning noise part of the music, or does it sound when a shibito is near you?

  • It's an alert system, like you speculated.
