Correct. Overdubs were used. Tommy James & The Shondells sound incredible at their live shows, but I don't think the background vocals tracked on this night at the Bitter End were up to standard. This is a very common practice, going back into the studio and recording overdubs. Kiss did this with their first live album as did John Fogerty and The Eagles on their live CD/DVDs in the 1990s.

At 1:18 & 1:28 & 4:24, the guitarist stops singing & the harmony vocals are still going on, but that doesn't happen at other points, and the video isn't terribly out-of-sync. Nobody can deny that isn't happening as you can see it with your own eyes. I see other evidence the music was stripped, remixed & reposted with the video. But having said that, I love the music regardless 7 these are some talented folks indeed.
