Noh is a classical Japanese performance form which combines elements of dance, drama, music and poetry into one highly aesthetic stage art. Largely based in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, it is performed throughout the country by professional artists, mainly men, who have passed down the art among family members for numerous generations. There is also a wide following of both male and female amateurs who practice and perform its chant, dance, and instruments. Noh performance was held at the open air Noh stage of Hatomori Shrine in Sendagaya, Tokyo on Saturday, September 8 for the Autumn Festival.

  • Yes, this character is a princess.

  • This character is NOT a princess. She is the ghost of the daughter of a minor administrator. The purple robe she is wearing was her husband's clothes. She looks into the well (box up front) and believes her own reflection is her dead husband.

  • This one is the least intimidating from all the other clips...
