Also, by having a protest, people who come to Century will realize that the theatre supports discrimination and some of them will even be smart enough to walk away and not give the Century/Cinemark their money because they don't deserve it. The movie MILK is playing at Century Theatres in Roseville, CA. This shows you that Century is about getting money and being greedy, not actually caring about people. Just remember that!
So, how did you make this protest happen? Did you need a permit and if so, where could I get one? I protested by myself 2 times and had the cops called on me both times and the 3rd time I did it, I was with my friend and we ran from the cops when they called them. I found out you have to have a permit or else you'll get arrested. I also slapped some flyers on the front door to the theatre to show people the hate Century Theatres promotes and the people who worked there said it was illegal.
Ok, it's not fair to punish people that work for Cinemark and had no choice in the matter. Whether we agree with it or not, a private citizen has the right to support whatever cause he or she deems supportable. In boycotting, you're only going to affect the people that tear the ticket stubs and serve up the popcorn and run the projector booths by putting them out of jobs. And for all you know, those little fish in the corporate pond didn't support that crappy amendment.
The people who work at Century & Cinemark should understand that the CEO of the Cinemark/ Century Corporation donated $9,999 to the Yes on 8 campaign. They need to get that they are helping promote hate by working there. They should quit working there and stand up for what's right. Yes, it's hard to just quit especially in this fucked up economy because where else are they going to work? I personally think standing up for what's right is better than working and getting a ton of money.
Again, his views reflect nothing on the people who work there. Hell, there may be people who agree with what he did and that is their their right. Conversely there are people who don't believe in what he did, but they have responsibilities that prevent them from just quitting on the spot because of the actions of one person who has nothing to do with them. Perhaps when you grow up, have responsabilities you will realize that there is more to every situation that what's in black and white.
