The following video was taken from a fire in Long Ridge Volunteer Fire District in North Stamford (CT) on May 10, 2010. The video catches a Fire Chief getting a direct-contract blast from a master stream. The Fire Chief had no protective clothing and was only wearing a reflective rain jacket and bell cap. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured, but this should serve as a training tool to always wear your proper gear and expect the unexpected!

  • @whymebrian We all know what happened here. The IC canceled the companies B4 he got on scene because he expected the box to be BS just like 99% of all boxes are. Unfortunely, for him this was that 1% call that was legit and now that the first due company put a working fire on the box he had to recall the units after cancelling them and made himself look like an incompetent jackass. First rule: keep everyone coming untill you know what you got.

  • That was fucking stupid to cancel the incoming units because you have enough people, you can never have too many. Dear guy who tried to cancel the units you sir are a dummy!

  • Did I miss something or did 712 call the extra units off without being on scene? 71 calls in on scene at 0:58 - 712 responds to dispatch as being on scene at 1:24 - but he called the units off at 0:35 - he wasn't on scene at the time! The audio is much more interesting than the video :) Gonna pinch this one for the next officers' training session ...

  • @houstoncrawford It might have been a question about if something should happend any place else. If everyone is on this fire, there will be less guys on alert at the station or anywhere else..

  • does he want a spoon or a fork to eat his words with?

  • "...always wear your proper gear and expect the unexpected."

Yeah, like water being discharged at pressure from the tip of the monitor?

  • The best part of this is the audio!

  • What a dumbass

  • Bet the dispatch tones for that chief consist of carnival music. If they don't, they should. His ego is going to get a good man killed, if it hasn't already...

  • thats onehellof a chimney fire

  • 712 should be fired. Moron

  • Wow. Good job, 712. First day on the big red truck?
