Yep, I know. Busiek also did work with DC. But Marvel don't really touch the series like DC does when they re-published DC vs Marvel. Either way, Superman won based on being favored

  • @scaibs No, those books were published jointly by DC and Marvel. Issues 1 and 3 were titled JLA/Avengers and 2 and 4 were Avengers/JLA. The writer, Kurt Busiek, had mostly written for Marvel up to that time. I think the reason Superman won is because he's the first superhero.

  • @ugalawdog98

DC had majority "rights" over those cross over books. You really think DC is going to let their poster boy get beat, especially when they're in majority of control? I don't think so

Haha, I couldn't have said it any better. I love the fanboys who love to pull out "Superboy Prime" card or "Pre-Crisis Superman". It's like if one Superman doesn't work, they try another and still it don't really quite work, it's really funny if you look at it in a humorous way. It's like they are always trying to pull an ace from their sleeve only to epicly fail.

But yeah, most cases with those top tier characters, it usually always depends on the writer.

  • @scaibs Yes, Superman is a joke and the fan boys who think he's unbeatable are fairly ignorant. But Thor beating Surfer in the past doesn't hold that much water with me. Any decent writer could make Thor lose believably to Surfer and vice versa. Surfer is actually quite similar to Thor in that he's a super powerful character who is constantly written as using maybe 10% of his true power because if he was written as using his full power in every fight there would never be any sense of danger.

Thor vs Red Hulk already happened, twice.

Their first encounter Thor lost, due to holding back. Their second meeting, Thor said he was angry and flat out beat Red Hulk in seconds, literally.
