This is another song recorded at the Earl in east Atlanta when the Mountain Goats played in November. It's one of the standout songs among many on their 2002 album Tallahassee. It's preceded by some of John Darnielle's fabulous onstage banter.

  • (i know what ya mean. he always struck me as british but he's from arizona) John is the hands-down KING of onstage banter. hears to you, TMG!

  • @uzername91PUNx I concur. Although, Ted Leo can be kinda fun.

  • is John British?

  • @melyell69 nope

  • Oooh! This is a fantastic performance. I adore the way the mood changes and is sung with more urgency and venom from "Carried you up the stairs that night" to "Ah, but look at this showroom filled with fabulous prizes".

It's a crazy good example of the album as a whole, capturing the sad desperate want to fix what's broken, as well as the frustration and anger at the strong possiblity that it probably can't be.

    It's fantastic.

  • I'm really glad you like it. I'll have to use better sound equipment in the future.

  • @fernloft He is of the Hoosier persuasion by birth but these things fade. It is doubtful he remembers the secret handshake.
