I will never forget watching Abatellio at Freehold setting up a 12 dollar exacta.
The following week, I followed 2 of the horses back who both finished 1st and 2nd after being stiffed.

Harness racing is a clique industry that is surviving because of slot machines. The drugs have seriously ruined the sport to the point where records don't matter anymore. TBreds have some of the same issues, but it will always be the sport of kings...As a standerdbred person, it makes me smile to see them get a dose of what we have to deal with, watching Dutrow win the Kentucky Derby, lucky for him he wasn't under suspension at this time of year. Big Brown will be the Barry Bonds of racing.

The reason thoroghbreds haven't improved is because the bred has gotten weaker despite all the drugs. Harness horses are durable and surface changes and bike improvements have helped.

56.4 wouldnt win the 10 claimer at yonkers today. I wonder how come throughbred times are comparable over the years but standardbreds are crazy different, must be the drugs, and a little bit of technology
