University of Colorado professor emeritus, Howard Higman, chairman of the Conference on World Affairs, reflects on his life. I was not a student of Howards, but rather got to know him late in his life. He was kind enough to allow myself and a fellow film student to interview him in his home in 1994.
I took "The Sociology of War" from him in 1975.
He would come to class with no notes (and a bad hangover, I believe) and just start lecturing on all sorts of subjects. Sometimes he would put his hands on the side of his head like he was trying to hold it on and walk back and forth in front of the class talking away as if we were not there. He was a charismatic and fascinating man.
