This time I'm using the small stove to heat water in a bunt pan like we used to in the Boy Scouts. The YouTube time limit ran out before the water actually boiled so I cut the vid short. The water did boil about 6 minutes after the point where I cut the vid off.
There are a couple of changes I want to make to the stove before I try it again.
Note of apology: I've been told that I have a creepy voice. I guess that's what happens when you have a bass voice and I'm trying not to overload the camera mike. Sorry if it bothers anyone but it's the only voice I have.

  • i notice some smoke as soon as you put the pot over the flame. if you put more clearance between the top surface of the stove and the bottom of the pot, the smoke will be lessened. nice stove. very practical for boiling water.

  • Yes, that is one of the changes I want to make. You have a good eye there.

  • How hard is it to light with no accelerant?

  • There would have to be some accelerant or at least tinder. Either works about the same, just that the accelerant (a couple of squirts of lighter fluid) works faster. I also use dryer lint that is soaked in candle wax. I'll use something like that next time. Youtube has a limit for time so I've tried to get it going fast before.

  • I have never heard of the bunt pan trick before. Does this stove work with a regular pan or would it have to have more clearance?

  • The pan fits on the top of the stove fairly well. There are some smaller bunt pans I am looking for to try out. This one was used because it will hold up to 8 cups and has a nice tube up through the center that works as a chimney.

  • "Necessity is the mother of invention." Use a nail to dimple the can where you want the holes and use a home-made "bow drill" (lots of instructions on the net for bow drills), a couple drops of water and a pinch of sand in the dimple and you can make all the holes you want. It'll take some patience and hard work but so does everything else worth having.

  • thats what im trying to find out me too

  • Hi, do you think the chimney increases the efficiency of the wood stove enough to justify taking a pan like this for longer camping trips? It seems a pan like this offers very little volume given the weight. I would love to see a side by side comparison between the performance of this pot with a tin foil lid and a Heine-Pot on the same stove setup.

  • So, did you get the water to boil? How long did it take? Nice video. I keep wanting to make one of those woodgasifier stoves, but I have a Dragonfly and some fuel.

  • Lovely woodgas stove. Great Work. I also work on one(with at moment dosent have much gasification goin, i need to make a new burn chamber). But im experimenting a lot on it. check out my vids if u like to see what i´.m doing.

    keep it up.

  • gonna try that right now !!

  • I guess (at least thats how i did myself) you cut the opening on the lid a bit smaller than the diameter of the inner can. Then make some radial cuts around the circumference of the hole. After this you will force the inner can through this ("enlarged") hole. It will stay in its place. I hope it made sense..

  • how do you connect the inner can with the lid?

  • Bad taste? Sounds like you have a stick up your arse. Loosen up I'm sticking up for your hero, that's why he left it on. BTW congratulations on your stove. I use mine more than you, nerenernerenernerener

  • Thanks for the videos. I want to make one, but I don't have a drill or many tools to make nice cuts in the metal. I can cut the aluminum can stoves easily with an exacto knife, but they don't work as well on cans.
