Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian Shivanathan Kishore has reiterated that opposing the Governments programme is not fruitful.

He opined it is their onus to facilitate the resettlement of the civilians of Welfare Villages in their villages. In an interview with the Virakesari newspaper, Mr. Kishore observed that the Governments desire was to fast track the resettlement process soon after the de-mining is completed. He was responding to a query as to why he abstained from voting in Parliament during the Resolution on the Emergency. His view was that the Tamil National Alliance should support meticulous decisions taken on behalf of the Tamil civilians and improve their living conditions. He recently told Parliament that he would give unconditional support to the Governments programmes.
