Nos. 1-3 are written by Troubadour/Trouvères/minnesingers.

No. 1
Walther von Vogelweide, a contemporary of the historical Robin Hood, a Minnesinger in the German troubadour tradition, was born in Austria about the year 1170 and spent his life in the service of a series of noblemen, kings and emperors, recognised as one of the leading poets of his generation. His Palästinalied is the only work of his for which the original melody has been preserved and in its words describes the Holy Land, which the poet may have visited with the crusading Emperor Friedrich II.

  • warum palastana lied?

  • @Vampirvork Das Lied wurde von einem deutschen geschrieben und ist in mittelhochdeutscher Sprache gesungen. Das Thema ist Palästina und der Kreuzzüge.

  • Where can you get this cd?

I tried googling is... found nothing :O

  • @EbanySalamander It comes in a 3 CD set, called "Time of the Templars". Google that, and you will get plenty of results.

  • Interesting version of the song -- runs a little against the wonder and humility of the text in favor of the martial, but very haunting. "It has come to me, what I always prayed for -- I have come to the city where God walked as a man. . . that a maiden should bear a child to be lord of all the angels, was that not the greatest miracle?"
