Crestview.. Inmate at Okaloosa County Jail Hangs Himself

An inmate at the Okaloosa County Jail on east Hwy 90 was found in his cell Thursday morning unconscious following an apparent suicide attempt. Macrino Garcia Sagastume, 28, was an illegal alien from Guatemala, was found by other inmates with a piece of string, one end tied around his neck and the other to the top of the bunk in his cell. When EMS personnel arrived correctional officers were administrating CPR in an attempt to keep Sagastume alive. He was transported by EMS to the North Okaloosa Medical Center, and then onto the trauma center at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. A spokesman at Sacred Heart would not confirm Sagastume condition late Thursday afternoon.
