The Race (Matchbox Toy Car Animation) 1976

The Dutch title is "De 5 Hindernissen". (Something like "The 5 Challenges") It is the first animation movie I made. I think it was in 1976. It was made with a double-8 film camera and it took me the whole summer to record this picture-by-picture (frame by frame) movie. I was too old to play with my Matchbox toy cars so I decided to use them in this film and blow them partly up. All scenes are recorded on 1 square meter in our green house in the garden. I wanted to use more fire and fireworks in it, but my mother wasn't very happy with that. She was afraid that I would put the green house on fire.

The video is on 80% of the normal speed because the original film plays way too quick. It is still too quick but this way it fitted to the music. One day I'm gonna add sound effects to it and adjust the speed.

The music in this video clip is "The Race" by "Yellow". The original film has no sound. I used "Clifton Films" because in those days I was addicted to a comic book series named Clifton.

@blondes4mee I saw a couple i had and wish they still would have made. Mainly the green "winner." I had a reddish one and liked the clear doors.
