It's been on the tip of my tongue for the longest time now, but after seeing this i've figured it out: If i had to describe Michael Emerson in one word, i would say that he's "genuine"--the aforementioned bit about the Siberian woman being a case in point. While most people tend to shy away from words that are, i dunno, too emotional, too personal, he always seems fearless about using precisely the words he means. The miracle of language, indeed.

When he mentions the Siberian woman and says "I found this very moving..." OMG! He is such an utter sweetheart and I totally agree with him about the healing power of language. I do creative writing as a hobby and adore the theatre so I feel like Michael is an ideal man.
