  • Something just not right there! That MR2 must be non turbo, no offense but a SW20 3SGTE, would smoke the balls of a modified civic! Meaning no offense to the Honda BTW I owned an Both these cars n the MR2 is by far the faster car. Never heard the dump valve go off so thinking it's s N/A

  • @finnyfella

Wiki: The US MR2 Turbo finishes the 1/4 mile in 14.7 seconds.

As stated previously, this particular Mr2 which was mildly modified and ran 13.5sec @100-105mph.

High velocity race eliminates the launch advantage of a Mid Engine, RWD car.

Integra Type R weighs 2643 and runs around 15.0

EG Civic weighs around 2100 lbs and this one had a highly modified Type R engine.

    Bench Racing much eh?

  • What's the modification on the cars?

(Seemed like a pretty stock MR2)

    Nice video by the way..

  • Based upon memory (2004 video i believe)

Performance Mods for MR2 at the time had like a boost controller, exhaust system, cone filter some heavy enkei wheels, stock turbo. I believe it ran a 13.5 at 100-105 with those modifications.

Civic - NA B15C5 with normal IHE, unsure about internals, but pretty heavy with modifications. I am unsure about the 100% complete setup though.

  • mr2's do have the potential to be beasts but being that the hatch is n/a....it's still cool to see it hang with a boosted mr2. props to the hatch!

  • @MatthewGoul Probably a 3.8 V6 under the hood of the Firebird. But yes, it would have been more legit if the Firebird went at it just for fun. I have a stock 06 GTO with the 400 hp LS2 motor and 6-sp. manual tranny. It's all stock, but I still race people, whether I win or lose. Now, I may be a muscle car guy, but I can take a loss against smaller cars. It's the respect that counts the most. :)

  • Mr2

  • @Criis2012 You mean "GSR's aren't that fast until you do a little extra to it".

There's no way a stock N/A car with less torque, FWD (wheelspin, torque steer, etc.), and less bhp could keep up with a turbocharged MR that has a boost controller ( mind you, they're pushing out around 200-250bhp STOCK, depends which gen. ) on the highway.

  • I kept up to my friends mr2 who is boosting more and full exhaust with my stock gsr from japan btw a b18c just with type r headers and ls tranny which sucks balls, mr2s aren't that fast until you do little extra to it.

  • @MatthewGoul eg

  • @wasrdude get your shit straight before commenting. he means gen3 3sgte you fucktard!

  • Wasrdude, he meant a 3rd gen motor, not a mk3 (spider). I suggest you learn what you're talking about before you call someone else out.

  • are you kiddin kid? my 91 gen 2 mr2 turbo left stock would smoke any gen3 mr2 stock. gen3's ruined the name
