Ehud Barak, the Israeli defence minister, speaks to Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland from central command in Tel Aviv.

Just two weeks before Israel gets a new prime minister and potentially a new government Barak discusses his own political aspirations.

He also talks about Israel's military preparations for any threat posed by Iran, about controversial Jeiwsh settlements and his country's security fence.

  • @suspendmeassholes You can't get their from your first comment. I don't know what you do know about Israel, but the Israeli government is very criticized here. Racism though exist is one of the biggest social miss conducts that a person can do here. And what I've seen for the past two or three years is people around the world criticize Israel from morning to evening without knowing all the facts but they just relay on Palestinian propaganda (if american knew and so on...).

  • @agetahon That in turn created a situation where the Israeli people feel attacked all the time and combined with extensional threats from Iran and the perceived disregard for Jewish life (rocket attacks, antisemitism in the Arab world) i feel the country is taken but the extreme right. Most Israeli do want a peace agreement even the right, where the left and right (except of course to the extremists) don't agree is whether there's a partner in the other side.

  • @agetahon You are mistaken. I don't want to see the Jews wiped off the face of the earth. Jews have contributed more to this world than muslims. That's not the point. I am just annoyed at people that are unable to critisize their government. Like Americans that think they are the best in the world while foreign banks run their country. I am not saying Palestinians are right. But I don't think Israelis are either. You understand? I don't have a side in your conflict. You both make mistakes.

  • @suspendmeassholes Well, you are mistaken, I no longer need to relay on goodwill of other people to survive i have a state and an army that is more then capable. But apparently its uncomfortable to some of those who want to see Jewish people vanish under their boots. Israeli terror groups? yeah i do agree they were terror groups, but even then there were a great dispute over their actions in the Hebrew community. So don't use this stupid argument. Besides i don't remember lehi targeting children
