Almost all Koreans love this food. If you are a foreigner you'd probably call this sushi as it is know well, but it's not. The difference is that in sushi, they use vinegar in rice. For kimbab there is no vinegar. Kimbab is like sushi, it is a seaweed (kim) roll with rice and other foods. Then you chop it and eat it!

  • Are you sure about the vinegar thing?

My grandmother adds seasame oil and vinegar to the rice before she rolls up the kimbab. My grandmother knows how to make almost every Korean dish. Her food is delicious!!

You can definitely taste the vinegar in sushi though!

I am Korean by the way.

  • Yes, compared to Japanese culture, although kimbab is a similiarity to sushi, Koreans don't actually add sugar. Vinegar actually makes things sweeter, but nowadays even in families it doesn't matter how it must be made. I am sure your grandma's food tastes GOOD!!!!

  • ooh no vinegar in kimbap rice! Now that's something I didn't know yet. Good to know though.

  • Yes- that's right. Koreans did not add vinegar to their rice, like the Japanese did. Vinegar usually makes things sweeter.

  • WoooooW is that your country food? Please post more.Thank you.

  • I might upload more soon. Yes, kimbab was known as picnic food in Korea. Kimchi is one of the most popular too.
