Back To The Start ~ 2

when they got to David's condo Joe and  Zac were already there they all sat around the table set up with their game of poker 

Dealing the cards "so another night away from home?" Zac told him while sipping on his drink "I need guys time" simply answering 

"what you mean to say is avoiding the reality" Zac continued picking and holding up his cards "I like poker" doing the same with his own cards 

"so your telling me that you rather hang with your boys than go home to your, might I say gorgeously hot fiancé" Joe intervened while earning a smack from David "you two shut the hell up!"

"what? we are just trying to make conversation" Joe spat rubbing the back of his head 

"my relationship shouldn't be the number one topic" he finally said annoyed "just play" he continued 

"listen Nick I'm no one to judge giving to the fail of my five year relationship" Zac started to talk again "we've been friends for a long time and honestly somethings are better once they're over even if it seems completely crazy to picture it" 

"everything is fine with me Oprah" he spat back at him "then why are you here?"

"to play poker with my friends after a long day at work but apparently talking about feelings is the main concern" this time Zac snorted "whatever man I'm just saying we're twenty-four years old right now, you don't want to find yourself in the future being forty and unhappily miserable"

he decided not to reply to that because everything both of them had said has crossed his mind thousands of times, before the future use to be so clear and picture perfect but he doesn't know when it happened when everything just became dull and gray

The doorbell rang "who else is coming?" David shrugged and hurried to open the door 

"what are you doing here?" David said all the guys turned their eyes to the door 

Nick immediately saw Demi, David's younger sister as well as her friend Miley he's met her a couple of times before at birthday parties him and Selena had attended 

"can't I visit my brother?" Demi replied while not looking at him but smiling at Joe as she walked over to the table "poker I'm in" taking Logan's seat 

"shouldn't you be home studying or something?" David sighed with annoyance grabbing two other chairs "let your sister join us" Joe answers him while shooting a smirk at Demi 

Nick shook his head looking down at his cards "can I sit next to you?" Miley asked him while smiling "uh yeah sure" scooting his chair a little "your playing too?"

"um I don't really know how" shaking her head while giggling "don't worry Miles we'll teach you as we go" David told her as he gathered the cards 

The game began and the conversation that had started between him and his friends before the girls got there now forgotten 

"and bam I win!" Miley shouted with victory "how the hell did that happen?!" Zac whined 

"don't be a sore loser!" Demi teased "whatever!"

"I just have a great teacher" Miley responded while rubbing her lips together before shooting a smirk to Nick 

He swallowed nervously at the sight of her pretty color eyes giving him a playful look along with a flirty twinkle, he didn't like that he actually liked the feeling it gave him 

Standing up "I gotta go" he told them while grabbing his jacket "already? we just got here" Demi said "yeah sorry see you guys tomorrow" with that he walked out faster than usual 

In the four years of being with Selena his always being faithful his commitment and loyalty to her has never been broken but with all that everyone keeps saying and the way things are, he could feel himself getting sucked into the wrong side

getting home everything was dark placing his stuff on the kitchen table he walked into their bedroom the only light was the reflection of the television screen

She was curled up in a blanket sleeping peacefully, he couldn't help but smile at her fresh face he has always loved that about her that as soon as she gets home she wipes the make-up off and changes into her comfy clothes 

Taking off his shoes and turning off tv he found himself getting into bed with her while caressing his hand on her cheek her eyes fluttered open at his touch "Nick. ." a little groggy she said "yeah"

Opening her eyes more clearly she was taken back a little by him holding her close the warmth of his body making her pulse rise "Sel. ."

Loving the feel of his lips brushing against hers "I love you" the warn fuzzy feeling made it's way to her stomach "I love you too Nick" 

Almost feeling like they have said it to each other for the first time since it's been way too long 

Pulling her closer as she repeated the words to him, hovering he finally let his lips crash upon hers earning him a moan from her as she tried to keep up with his passionate kiss
