@mikmuse6 so your saying eddie, otis, melvin, and paul should of kept david in the group so he could get cleaned? They were still the temptations after david was fired

@ Fox4dahunt: I agree with you. I think Leon did a great job in the movie. I don't know if David's personality was anything like Leon portrayed but Leon got 2 thumbs up from me for his role.

I must say that regardless of David's mishaps, bad choices or whatever anyone wants to call it. He was TALENTED and it was a tragedy to his family/ friends & his fans when his life ended. I hear some of the things that pppl say about him & it's kind of sad. I do understand & respect every1s opinions but what do we get out of bashing a person who's no longer w/us? Sure he made mistakes but who hasn't.maybe if he was here today, he would wish that he could change those choices however, he's not.

This is sad. How totally SICK of singing this do you think they were by this time? How could they have known that their amazing fame and this iconic song would live forever, but their great voices would deteriorate and their friendships would break apart? Why does this always happen? Is it ego?

That's all quite charming, but 0% credible. If he was the supporting force he says he was, he should have let somebody write it about him... Plus, that book and the mini-series it inspired contains NUMEROUS and MASSIVE inaccuracies. Why should we then believe any of that "praise me, Grand Otis" business... Please. Otis Williams is just as much a douche as Ruffin was. Besides, what's with this ghetto tendency to NOT being able to let go of a group after its 9658th lineup change?!! Totally dumb.

David Ruffin was a social retard, which prompted him to behave like a teen-aged girl with a bad case of narcissistic personality disorder, but Otis Williams appears to have been a serious pain in the ass. "His" (obviously limited, he had a "co-writer" help him out... hehehe) biography of the group can be summed-up as such: I was the de facto leader, I never made many personal mistakes, I was the sanest one in the gang, I, I, I and I... Without me, The Temptations would've disappeared."

The late, great David Ruffin - brilliant - just brilliant RIP

I was waiting for Eddie to take over, so I was disappointed. None of the many great songs he lead on were featured.
David, Eddie, Melvin, Paul, and Otis were the original Temptations and anything after that were just 'imptations'

To no one in particular: David Ruffin had a magnificent voice. It "sends me" now as it did back in the day. It seems that 'the creatives' who suffer do so more intensely. I found that the reason for this is because some people experience emotions to a much stronger degree (due to genes) than do others .. thus they are more prone to drug & alcohol addictions. I won't judge David .. because there, but for a few drops of a brain chemicals, go you or I.
