Joe's POV

I get up to go see what everyone was up to when Claire suddenly ran into me. I looked at her and she had a tear stained face.

Joe-Claire what's wrong?

She buried her face into my chest and cried.

Joe-There There. It's okay

I stroke her hair and rub her back. Then Nick comes down the stairs causing Claire to look up. She and Nick make eye contact.

Nick- Claire. Please. I'm Sorry.

He walks toward us but Claire just runs out of my arms away. She opens the front door and runs outside down the street.

I look at brother.
Joe-What did you do?
He just sighs and starts running out when I stop him.
Joe- You stay. I'm going. But 1st.

I run up to Claire's room, grab her guitar, and come back down. I take one last look at Nick, then I sprint out the door.

Claire's POV

I run out the door, without looking back. I run and run and run till I can't run anymore. I stop to catch my breath. I hear a familiar voice call my name in the distance. I turn around and see Joe running after me...with my guitar in his hand? okayyyyy.. He finally reaches me.

Joe- Claire. Are you okay?
Claire- Yes. Why do you have my guitar?
Joe- Come sit down

We sit down on a nearby bench.

Claire-Yes?
Joe-What happened?

I explain to Joe about how Nick kissed Miley at the mall, when he rescued me, and when he just kissed Paige in the bedroom. I told him my feelings. How I felt, each time. And how I just couldn't take anymore after Paige.

Claire- Can you please tell me why you have my guitar now?
Joe- Alright. This is why.

He pulls out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. He positions the guitar and starts to play.

My fingers go towards my neck and they rest on the cold silver necklace with the N on it. I grasp it in my hand firmly.

Claire- This is why.
