I don't know who ever labelled the lion as the King of the Jungle. Lions don't even live in jungles as far I know. They live on open plains and Savannah type habitats. Maybe, King of the Beasts (though many, many dispute that). Don't care. For the lion's size it is mighty.

Maybe the African elephant = king of beasts (if you base it on size alone). They commonly bully and gore rival rhinoceros
