You know, seeing Newt Gingrich, of all people, take the lead in South Carolina made me want to agree with Ann Coulter, that people are less interested - or maybe not even interested at all - in taking this country back to the ideals of the founders. Maybe all that they are interested in right now is a good old-fashioned bitch slap of our current lord and savior - and who better to deliver it than our sides bitch-slapper-in-chief. You've got to admit that of all the remaining candidates, Newt is the most badass, so badass in fact that Chuck Norris endorsed him the other day. so maybe the joke is on us - the American people have pretty much given up on the whole political thing and are just ready for a good fight - even a verbal one. One could opine that this is just an extension of the degeneration of our society into something that revels in this kind of stuff - witness the soaring ratings of shows like Survivor and Big Brother - but you know, there has to be something viscerally satisfying about seeing someone wipe that shit-faced grin off Obama's face, you know...

One more thing: if I hear Newt say "Lincoln-Douglas style debate" one more time, I think I'll just freaking scream. It's pipe dream, dude - he knows you'd crush him, which is exactly why he WON'T do it.

Obama is running against his economic record. I think all the candidates can beat Obama, it's just the amount of margin. Landslide or a percent or two.

Obama has no record to run on, Carville said it best.... it's the economy stupid.

Public perception of the economy will dictate if Obama deserves re-election, and time is running out fast.

It's too ealry for polls to mean anything until the final nominee has been chosen and he's been out there a while campaigning as the nominee.

I need to see some national polls with Gingrich matched up against Obama. If he can win, I'll vote for him. If not, I'm voting for who I think is going to beat Obama.  What someone should do is point to Ron Paul and say "I want this man as my treasury secretary!"

Gingrich is a conservative seduction artist, he is adroit in debate and knows how to handle the media. I don't trust him as he has betrayed many too many times, he has done some good things in the past, he ain't all bad, but no indication which flavor of Newt you will get.I'd far prefer him to Romney though. American politics has always been a circus, you can look at history and it was pretty crazy at times even before the TV and radio era. We surely have plenty of clowns in DC.as proof.

Once Ging would be set up for the final debate with Obama, and just as everyone would expect to see one galactic royal slam dunk of the in-eloquent communist obama per the "fantastically eloquent and so intelligent" speaker of the house, Gingrich would then out of nowhere bail out on everybody and make obama sound like the most stellar, the most intelligent & competent debater of the universe.
