Pump testing three fire trucks. This is the annual service and pump test of Seven Devils fire trucks 3201 (1000 gallon a minute pump), 3202 (1000 gallon a minute pump), and 3203 (750 gallon a minute pump).
Grandfather Trout Pond is where the trucks were tested. Bill Wilkinson (town council) lets the trucks test at his business. This business also has a Foscoe VFD water fill point. It's the greatest place to test a fire truck. To test a fire truck, one has to draft a bunch of water (these tests take a long time) and Grandfather Tout Pond at the bottom of Seven Devils is only lifting the water a couple of feet. Many other ponds in the area are several feet of lift. Poor old 3203 can't lift the water (the vacuum test was sad at first), but this truck does have a 35' ladder.
Another great thing about Grandfather Trout Pond is safety. The trucks can park close to the water and not need a tow truck. I'm not sure which department has needed some help near water, but I've heard stories.
You'll see that 3203 was started early, but it was getting later with 3202. The video does jump back when the old truck was being tested, but the trout were being fed. Again thanks to Grandfather Trout Pond. If you want some fun and great smoked trout, check it out. He also has the gem mine, but the fire department likes the water.
Surprised that the "small" engine can pump as much water as the "big" engine. Learned something today!!!

The smaller truck (3201) is a class A pumper when it was built and put in service. It has a 1000 GPM pump, foam and water that it carries and ladders and many other things - it is a class A pumper. Being small and 4x4, it is a great truck on the mountain roads. It is Seven Devils FD first out truck.
