A complex of training supercell thunderstorms dropped golfball-to-baseball sized hail on Lubbock, Texas on April 16, 2009. Tornado touchdowns occured in eastern Lubbock County and a funnel cloud was sighted in South Lubbock. KLBK's Chief Meteorologist Matt Laubhan and meteorologists Holly McCarthy and Troy Christensen track and analyze the severe weather outbreak in wall-to-wall coverage.

  • They could've used spotters that day. While this guy is jerking his viewers off with software and condescending attitudes, we were videotaping multiple tornadoes east of Idalou. We called them into the NWS, so they were aware. Meanwhile this guy is just blabbing about quarter hail. I love the way he spent 20 seconds on the Idalou rotation reports when the off-cam guy tried to let him know.

    What a joke.

  • @passiontwist I appreciate the feedback. Of course, the next time you're in the area, I invite you to send any pics you have to weather@klbk.com.

I remember seeing your photographs a couple of days after the fact. The preliminary reports of tornadoes couldn't be confirmed, and as a result, no damage survey was done on the Idalou afternoon funnels.

The NWS Lubbock's summary of actual and suspected tornadoes can be found under "Local Events" on their website.

    Again, thanks for the feedback!

  • The way this "weatherman" handled this broadcast is the best advertisement for KCBD I've ever seen.

  • @passiontwist I can tell you that no matter how bad some may think you are, you are a million times better than Bryan Hughes. I remember a tornado on the ground in Lamesa and he started getting hysterical. "OK, this looks like a hook echo which is a signature of a tornado. Whats that? We have confirmation of a tornado on the ground in Lamesa? OH MY GOD!!! If you are in Lamesa and you can hear me, go get in your closet. OH MY GOD!!! You need to do something!!!"

  • Does this guy still have a job? He's terrible! He's talking to the viewers like they have 0 mental capability. One of the keys to being in the public image is being personable and he definitely is not.

  • I thought it was a good job on KLBK's part. Also, I don't recall getting jerked off that day. Hmmm, interesting.

  • Theres one by Post to during 1:11
