I remember watching this on the CBS Late Movie, and the one thing that really irked me was that the "heroes" didn't even try to save the woman who was accidently blinded. If you need gore to enjoy a horror movie, you're an unimaginative sociopath because you need to see everything.

The atmosphere in this movie is just great! I love the scene were the find the cook dead and there's a "SS" patch in his hand, then one of the guys asks who's is it, then someone responds "Ask them" pointing to two of the zombies just staring at them from the trees...excellent film!

I liked Chewbacca's comment. To find a film frightening, one has to use the imagination. Put yourself in the place of the characters and imagine you're there. Pretend. . .If you can do that, it doesn't matter how fake the monsters might look, or how cheesy the premise: you will be scarred. If you can't do that, then the best filmmakers in the world won't be able to scare you.

I find it rather sad when people say this movie has no frights. That just shows how completely desensitized and dull people are today. The entire movie was a fright. The theme of this movie alone is terrifying: far away from comfort and familiar surroundings, being trapped on an isolated & deserted island with little chance of escape, constantly plagued by a bunch of murderous Nazi zombies. That right there is awfully damn frightening.

@chewbacca4me - Very good points. It's all about shock value and intensity now. Just a scary premise is not enough anymore. Thanx for the comment.
