My favorite hike to date. Taken from the middle of the "Knife Edge" on Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine. We went in nearly perfect conditions in early August. Temps in the 80F area on the ground and probably in the 60s on the summit. Wind was strong--probably 30 to 40mph at times, but I doubt it gets much more tame than that. Very intimidating approach, but once on the Knife Edge, it wasn't quite as bad--there is almost always rock to grab on to and there are only a couple of short points where it seems like you could die if you slipped. Would definitely advise against attempting in bad conditions. Definitely a scary experience if you don't enjoy heights. Some of the best views I've ever seen--this video doesn't do it justice. Pardon the shaky camera work--the wind was blowing me off balance and I was looking for better footing.
