@chrissifu I have to respectfully disagree. I have been practicing Jian for many years, spoken with many masters of the art, and have never heard that use of the sword finger is used only for beginners, implying that masters don not use it. I was taught that is was used to prevent an imbalance of Chi flow and can even be used for cavity presses in the advanced stages.

Yes, the secret sword hand (2 fingers) has nothing to do with Qi. It is only a method for beginners to use. It represents the small knife that is used in the left hand. You start like this so you don't cut yourself with the knife! Once you have learnt the form you then start to practice how to use the knife in the left hand to cut & stab. All internal forms especially weapons forms assume fighting against more than 1 opponent. Most people however do not know this, even Daoist masters in China.

I think it's a move of "qi", because bagua wudang is a kind of internal martial art, it's come from training of "nei dan" or "qi", use the two fingers to control or move the qi in the body.lol

It's to hide the knife.

the "secret sword hand" used to balance the Qi circulation during the movement
