I hope you lovely people are not sick of me this weekend, a wet and cold afternoon stretched out before me, and so I figured I would get this one down too while I had all the recording gear set up. It is an unusual tune, and the soprano adds a little eastern feel to it. Hope you enjoy it. This is from the Hal Leonard book and CD "Jazz standards"

  • Hi Matt,

I just bought a sop and decided to look for some inspiration. This does it :D

Keep on keeping on, your stuff is all great.

  • Cheers Mike, although you need more than inspiration; patience is required! Particularly for the lower register (below low D), which fluttered and warbled like Roger Whitaker with asthma for about a week. Make sure you get the mouthpiece down far enough on the neck, or Mr warble comes a knocking....... good luck!

  • so calming :) amazing job

    5*

  • cheers Alex!

  • Nothing at ALL against your alto playing, Matt...but I'm REALLY enjoying hearing you on tenor and now soprano. You just sound so comfortable on both of them.

    This is good. ~smile~

  • Cheers CJ! I have just picked up the alto again, it feels weird after all this time, I have such a light tone on the tenor, and a dark tone on the sop that it almost seems superfluous :-) Until that is I try and play "take five" which I want to try with the quartet. That only works on the alto IMHO....

I found schools work the best (I am 16). I walk in needed one school sax and I walk out with a Yamaha hollow body guitar. a Yamaha 675 soprano, a 62 tenor, and a 62 bari. all for 35 dollars!!

  • GREAT

  • Hi Matt,

I am a jazz guitarist waiting on my first soprano sax. It's encouraging to see how you have made this transition. Your tone is so good. Will check in again for inspiration. Regards Jim

  • Its for my son really ;) I went in a music shop for a mic stand and came out with a curly sop. Have a look at my vids :)

  • Ce soir je remercie YouTube d'avoir pu vous connaître..... Un véritable enchantement ! ...Très bonne soirée !....

  • Your intonation is flawless! And such a warm and sensuous tone! You are fabulous!

I love your Soprano even more than your tenor sound.

Please: get some CDs on the market! Look at Kenny G: the most successful musician in history. You have a huge market for your beautiful Jazz, believe me!

    Cheers, Daniel from Switzerland

  • another great job, Such a nice warm tone, i think i may have bought the wrong soprano sc 901. think i should have gone for the straight. christmas tune would go down nice.

again great work. have a nice xmas and your family.
