There are some scales that end up being used more often in jazz such as melodic minor (ascending) and various modes of that scale like the altered scale.
But you can play jazz by learning lines/solos and I avoid teaching modes as they tend to complicate things unnecessarily.
Which scales are good for jazz improvisation? Are there any "jazz-scales" at all?
