  • Really great. Thanks! I have always wanted to sculpt stone, but had no idea where to begin. I also want to work by hand. Messy as it is, it's far cleaner and I suspect more satisfying, albeit slower, than with power tools. Have you made or do you know of any other videos that show the process in real time?

  • thanks! can't say i know of carving in real time videos, but someone should do that! Maybe you? :)

  • hey..

really grateful for an excellent video :)

noticed you cant buy stone sculpture tools on ebay lol

where do you get them from and how do you start doing this kind of thing please?

  • there's lots of places out there, but if you're on the east coast, my favorite is

    Trow & Holden

  • Nice personable presentation, and the sculpture looks like it will be beautiful! I am concerned though, that you didn't address the basic safety issues of eye and hand protection. Those chips can fly, right in your eye! Please be careful, and good luck with your sculpting. Thanks for posting!

  • Excellent point - I always wear safety goggles. Hearing protection and a dust mask are necessary too if using pneumatic tools

  • THank you, and no I haven't. Have moved away from carving actually and am now pursuing Scenic Design for theatre

  • THank you, BildhauerEder

  • Hi, thanks for doing this Your demonstration was clear and precise. I hope to follow all your videos and learn some sculpting.

I paint and sketch but I am more inclined to do something three dimensionally.

I am planning to acquire my sculpting tools today but have no idea where to buy soapstone or alabaster in Irving (texas). Do you have any idea of stores here that I can contact? I checked online but couldn't really find any.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Amber your sculpture is realy very very nice !!!

  • Excellent video, really informative. Have you taken any real time video of sculpting in progress?
