@PutItAway101 amen brother...

@KenobiM11 I've always thought that the difference between someone who's just good and someone who's a genius is that when the "just good" guy comes up with something, you can kind of see where he's coming from, and even kid yourself that you could've thought of that, but when the genius comes up with something it's like "where the f@#$ did that even come from? This guy's brain is just wired up differently to the rest of the planet!" . Holdsworth's knowledge is definitely of the genius kind.

@PutItAway101 true... although you cannot leave aside the late Shawn Lane.. a powerful Jedi he was... But then again, master Holdsworth is now aged and his technique is only matched by his advance knowledge and his vast and rich improv communication skills..

people who say holdsworth seems like he s practicing all the time , or h is playing is sloppy really have no clue what s going on .. there are only a few notes from the harmony that the player can exploit to create a 'beautiful sound' for the listener , however playing at such blazing high speeds, players like holdsworth tend to use a lot of outside notes that sound amazing if you really follow the whole melodic phrase, which is difficult for an average listener .. this is musicians music

@murdukwatson are you high?
-
@murdukwatson You're kidding, right? There's probably no other guitarist in the world in such total control at high speed as Holdsworth is
-
really?

Nah Allan is not sloppy when he goes fast. Have you ever seen a written tab of his playing. He's completely on time. All the players who played with him says he has a phenomenal sense of time.
-
I love hearing this played by greg howe, I've been bias up until this point I've never really liked any versions of Allen's until now he's awesome but only at pace in my opinion when he goes fast it sounds sloppy.

I saw a picture of Allan holding a red Charvel with 2 twin reverbs behind him, exactly like this. Not necessarily the typical fusion rig but I'm sure he sounded pretty damn good.
theres still nobody who does.

"Proto Cosmos" has truly become the perennial anthem of fusion guitarists! But those Fender amp sounds like crap...where Allan's Yamaha DG's?
