A Digital Compositing experiment - The aim here was to create a short clip where I could focus on compositing 3D generated models with live models and stills. Using my old Warhammer 40,000 models and polystyrene terrain, I composited them with 3D animated models and terrain, using After Effects to make them look a part of the same scene.

  • To everyone that's commented on the marines bolters shooting lasers, I am well aware that they are meant to fire rounds, but for this project I was experimenting and it's a lot easier to visually show lasers. I know it's not accurate for warhammer but it's more of a star wars piece and if I had a whole lotta stormtroopers I would have used them instead.

  • the beat is from the hip-hop group Cunninlynguists. By their amazing producer DJ Kno. The song is called War. It's on their second album, from 2003, Southernunderground.

  • what's the beat called please?

  • Also, Bolters do not fire pathetic Star Wars lasers.

  • This is an insult to spacemarine fans and star wars fans. If your going to use spacemarines use them as spacemarines not as disco lights.

  • lol...ugly

  • the walker would be dead the moment a bolt round hit them

  • Im pretty sure thata .75mm Explosive BOLT ROUND would tear through those walkers armour, and even if not, it would go straight through the glass windsheilds..

  • Marines shoot bolts, not lazers

  • Nice job!

  • I agree with Yodainacan it's pretty good considering you probably had zero budget.

  • Considering that you probably had a budget of zero, it looked nice. It could have been much better of course, but with a good story and voice acting, this special effects soup could be entertaining enough to spend a, say twenty minutes of my life. I hope you keep working with these ideas and disregard the idiots here who get a hardon for telling how everyone else but them is a loser.
