One of the big reveals at NAMM 2011 has been the new Venom synthesizer from Avis / M-Audio. This is their first ever hardware synthesizer that was teased pretty hard before the show with video they released featuring Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland of Crystal Method drooling over the "Storm Trooper" synth off camera. Check out the panel from NAMM with Scott and Ken talking about the Venom and even playing us some new tracks they used the synth. Scott even gets up and noodles on the patches for us. Good stuff!

Use a free VST synth instead of this! (Discovery VST) lol

I bought one, I love it, my friends love it, my son loves it, it cost me $550 AUD It goes well with my other Synths. I built my first synth by hand from a kit (Transcendent 2000) - this is the most fun I have had with a synth since.. it has a few small flaws but the sound is excellent.. This is Crystal Method chatting, its not very indicative of the keyboard..

"Gotta make a quick buck and I don't know what Im talking about"...They're great producers dough....I wonder how much they got paid to talk so much shit

@mattsynth so true.
Companies need to stop trying to sell us digital shit and charging the mint for a cheaply made analog verison.

Yeah, this is a pretty lame demo. He doesn't seem to know his way around the synth and blah blah blahs over it all. YAWN!

@mattsynth Well said. The software is pretty nice, but I have not found anything besides the sound pack, that is really mind-blowing... It makes a good combo-synth to add to a collection.

CoBe, you must notbe a real musician because time is money and real musicians do not have the time to page thru menues, real knobs are much easer and faster to program. The sound is important but this unit is no better then most analog sound alikes. Nothing new here.

@mattsynth Grab a BCR 2000, and assign you're encoders on the bcr to parameters on the venom. Sorry, but a real musician wouldn't not buy a product cause it doesn't have enough knobs. It is about the sound. And this thing can make some monster sounds.

did M.audio get their $20 worth for this endorsement, or what?

How much did Crystal Method get paid to push this cheep unit. This synth has not enough knobs for me and I hate programing synths from a computer. It may sound great now but very quickly you will get tired of the factory sounds and want to tweek the unit. That is where the pain in the $%&* factor comes in. Please add a couple hundred more bucks to the synth and give us musicians something we can play and program with ease like the Roland Gaia. Sorry but this synth is not on my list of favorites.
