  • honestly i think this is genius. i was a little worried at first because i thought it might be disrespectful, but i read some of the comments and now i think jesus would endorse this product. Its also cool because even if they made a law against kubotans, this is in the shape of a cross so it would conflict with the 1st amendment to take it away.

  • Thanks. Actually, kubotans are already not permitted in airports/airlines and have been confiscated, but I have carried a wooden palm-size cross on board no problem. It is just a religious symbol : )

  • wow i didnt realize they confiscated kubotans in airports. i mean, its basically a plastic or wooden stick. ive even heard that like markers would work as kubotans. i guess they have really been tightening security in airports though. but a wooden cross, like i said before i dont think that they would take that away.

  • Yes. But I make sure it looks like a religious cross, even had some emblems burned on it : ) Also, I would not try to take on board some I've seen - modern art wood crosses with very pointed ends, lol. I've actually got a couple of those I purchased for a dollar at Michael's crafts store.

  • The "kenpo cross" is simply a "four-pointed" kubotan - practical weapon of self-defense. Practical also because it happens to ALSO be a symbol of faith and would not be taken away from someone carrying it- therefore legal to carry - even on a plane :-)

  • I am a seminary graduate and pastor, as well as a former missionary. The cross is indeed a spiritual symbol of the penalty and the victory over sin. I am not advocating the change of its symbolism. However, if you advocate pacifism in the face of evil, assault, etc, that would be clearly unbiblical. "He who cares not for his own is worse than an infidel and has denied the faith" Carrying for my family can and should include defending them physically if necessary.

  • I like this discussion and it is not an argument brother. Jesus did defeat sin and death but didnt hit anyone with the cross. Jesus drove the money changers but didn't hit anyone and he told Peter to put the sword away.

And I'm a seminary student so I might have studied the scriptures a little in my life.

  • And actually, Jesus did use the Cross as a weapon to destroy the power of Sin itself. People have to much problems with the area of self defense, and separating the "holy" or "sacred" from the physical. For those "born-again", everything done in the body, if done in submission to God, is sacred.

  • This is not really about using Christ's cross as a weapon. However, Jesus did use physical force to drive out the money-changers that were cheating the people in the Temple. He also told his disciples to carry a sword (see Luke ch. 22). Carrying a cross as a reminder of Christ's death and triumph over sin is great. And God does not condemn the use of physical force to defeat evil in the physical arena either. Read your Bible.

  • I don't think The Lord would want the cross to be used as a weapon. Christ didn't defend Him self when facing crucifixion.
