In the fourth film Jeremy Renner is taking over the reins. He said in an interview they were going to do a whole much more starring his character.

Tom Cruise is frickin awesome. Even though MI:2 is my fave out of the 3, this film is very underated. It's bloody entertaining.

As its only a film I wont worry too much, but, the explosions behind him and I'm really not too sure at all why he goes sidewards. Its been mentioned that the wind could be factor, mmm... I think an explosion of that size would counter act the wind, or affect him but not that much. I really could be wrong. Anyway its a film so take it for what it is and just enjoy it.
