I don't think that guy said Chitra is an ordinary singer, he said she has sung ordinary songs with other composers. There are a few Rahman songs of hers that I love but that apart, yes, at least nothing up to the standard of this song or Naan Enbadhu or so many other songs. Not just Chitra, listen to SPB in the MSV days and then with Raja. He gave both these incredible singers the best songs to actualize their potential.

@asdaash I agree that mics used in Indian venues generally are not very good but on the other hand you could hear the string sections clearly in the TV telecast. Lot of sound quality seems to have been lost in compression in these uploads. Oh, and the spectacle of carefully co ordinated string and choir sections in the intro of Sundari was simply mesmerising and breathtaking. Raja raja thaan!

National Awards..?? and Just 6??? This should be VERY less for someone like this magical lady CHITRA...!!! I bet that no music lover in this world would ever deny that Chitra is one of the BEST singers India has ever or will be produced!!!!

she didnt receive all her national awards just singing for Raja.I greatly admire raja sir and he is my most favourite MD. But the way you rated chitra was too bad. Listen to other songs she sung for some other directors. Especially if you are a tamilian, listen the songs for MD raveendran in malayalam. Other singers struggle to sing his songs while chitra sings it easily. she is the favourite of many music directors.never under rate a person like chitra.
